"He wear no shoeshine, he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger, he shoot coca-cola
He say, "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together, right now
Over me"
Today I joined in on an annual event of spring clean-up in the core area. All the major departments were there; Daycare, the Band Office, the Health Centre and various community volunteers who took the time today to tidy our ditches. I myself ran into our spirit guide at the four way stop, I took the time to talk to him but he didn't know if I was friend or foe. Speaking of friends look at these two, I tried to catch them in their natural state.
People were super courteous on this road, respecting our dust intake or maybe just slowing down to say "Who is that?"
I tell em I did all the parameter on this side of the road. They direct me to the arbor to go along the fence line, later when I'm almost at the edge of the road they pull in the truck and say "How's it going?"
Did you know that there is like a spring with an always on tap running here? Seems like a waste of water but oddly enough it's weirdly beautiful.
Do you remember a time when there were buildings here? I remember because the old connivence store used to be a church. Even a few homes so close to pump town...
Of all the people I saw here is the person with all the proper PPE. Ear protection and the claw, what else do you need for picking up garbage?
Janice and I small talked about getting a good workout and not have enough time to do things after work.
I was hurrying back to my truck to try to get pictures of everyone working and who do I run into? Brenda heading out again.
I stop my truck close to the road just behind where people usually park. And can you guess what Danielle is going to say? Look he's going to take a picture of us. Very friendly Paul Banners!
Lori was saying to me 'I hope I find a hundred dollar bill'. I replied I'd settle for a toonie. A lot of treasures down this road, I found a tool, a knee pad and a glove. Just have to find another of each to make a pair.
The event drew to a close around noon when I could hear someone on the intercom with inaudible tones but I couldn't quit Lori wasn't stopping until her side was finished and lucky for me, Wayne had pulled a head of me to finish my side. I tried getting a picture as I was passing him by but I missed him all the same. Nothing draws people together with a sense of community when we all work together for the common good. Well that's the way I felt at the end of the clean-up.
